I love this book. The author is actually my son's therapist and he is amazing. We've had so much improvement since visiting him. I would encourage all parents to buy this book.
WONDERFUL, powerful book. I don't have enough words to describe how impressed I am with what I have found in this book. The many principles shared here were not new to me, yet the examples, practical application tips and real life situations are helping me bridge theory and practice. The author's own journey and insight are most inspiring, thought provoking, stimulating. The book is filled with wisdom, kindness and good common sense. Highly recommended! I am a fan ).
This book has helped me sooooooo much! I am only half way thrpugh it and it has changed my families life! I have 3 children under 3 so God knows i needed this!
The world would undoubtedly be a better, kinder, gentler place if every parent used these principles. I found that this book is not so much about how to parent your child as it is about learning how to control yourself. Other areas of my life have benefitted from reading this book and using the principles. I feel much more calm, happy, and balanced as a person.
I can't tell you how many times in the middle of the night I pull out this book and read it and gain a new insight into my daughters, myself and my husband right when I was most seeking that guidance. The book is an easy read and offers different approaches through story telling and/or direct step by step instruction. This is the best parenting book/self awareness/ mindfullness book out there. Loving, caring, respectful advice for how to raise, nurture and guide your children through concious parenting.
As a general rule, I don't read parenting books. They tend to either make me feel like I'm doing something wrong or make me mad because I know I'm NOT doing anything wrong even though I don't do what they suggest. I am a big believer in following my parenting instincts and tailoring my parenting to my individual child. But this is one parenting book I like and often recommend because it follows how I feel and really helps you understand what your child could be going through and how to handle situations with more kindness, thoughtfulness, and insight with real life examples.
I would recommend this book to ANY parent. I have leaned so many valuable ways to connect with my kids better just by being positive and applying the techniques recommended in the book. I absolutely love this book and am so glad I found it, ( My 5 & 3 year old and I have been dealing with a lot of emotions brought forth through my husband and my's recent separation... The kids have been expressing anger, rebellion, not listening, trying to get my attention by acting out, ignoring me, yelling at me... You name it. Also these things can be very typical for this age in general, as ive learned through other parent friends... But I've been really putting these "positive teaching" methods into practice with them, especially my 5 year old (which takes a lot of patience and trust on my part) and they are already really paying off!! I feel that she is finally starting to understand why being good pays off and I can tell she is trying harder to behave and get along with everyone! )))
